How do we get started with Kindred Souls Care?

It begins with a phone call or our online request form. Within one business day, a care manager reaches out for a brief intake conversation, then schedules a free 60-minute in-home assessment — typically within 48 hours. During that visit we listen to your loved one's history, daily rhythms, medical needs, and preferences, and leave you with a written care plan, whether you choose to work with us or not.

How quickly can care actually begin?

In most cases, ongoing care begins 2–4 days after the in-home assessment, which gives us time to finalize the care plan and hand-match the right caregiver. For urgent needs — hospital discharges, sudden caregiver burnout, post-fall recovery — we can often place a trained caregiver in the home within 24 hours.

Question 3

Is the in-home consultation really free, with no commitment?

Yes. The 60-minute in-home assessment, the written care plan, and follow-up questions are all free. There is no contract to sign during the visit and no pressure to move forward. Many families take the plan with them and decide over the following days; some use it as a second opinion alongside another agency.

How are caregivers matched to my loved one?

Our care manager personally hand-matches each caregiver based on the client's personality, language preferences, cultural background, hobbies, medical needs, and the kind of presence the family is looking for. We share caregiver bios in advance whenever possible and invite a meet-and-greet before the first shift, so day one already feels familiar.

Question 6

How are your caregivers screened, trained, and supervised?

Every Kindred Souls Care caregiver is W-2 employed (not contracted), background-checked at the federal and county level, drug-screened, reference-verified, and TB-cleared. They complete dementia, mental health, and trauma-informed care training before their first shift, plus ongoing continuing education each year. A care manager supervises every case, conducts in-home quality visits, and is the consistent point of contact for the family.

What happens if our regular caregiver is sick or on vacation?

Continuity matters, so each client has a small primary care team — a lead caregiver and one or two backup caregivers — all briefed on the same care plan. If the lead is unavailable, a familiar backup steps in so routines, preferences, and small rituals stay consistent. We never send an unbriefed caregiver to a home.

Can we request a different caregiver if it isn't the right fit?

Absolutely, and without any awkward conversation. Just call your care manager — most re-matches happen within 24–48 hours, and we treat it as our job to find the right person, not yours. A great match is the foundation of great care, and we keep working until it clicks.

What kinds of care do you provide?

Our caregivers support dementia and memory care, mental health caregiving, elderly companion care, personal and daily living support (bathing, dressing, meals, mobility), respite care for family caregivers, post-hospital and transitional care, hospice and end-of-life support, chronic and neurological conditions (stroke, Parkinson's, MS, ALS), overnight and 24-hour care, skilled nursing visits, transportation and appointment accompaniment, and nutrition and meal support.

What does a personalized care plan actually include?

Your written care plan covers daily routines and timing, medication reminders, dietary needs and food preferences, mobility and fall-prevention strategies, cognitive and emotional support approaches, safety and home-environment notes, communication preferences with family, and specific goals (for example, 'walk to the mailbox three times a week' or 'reduce sundowning anxiety'). Plans are reviewed at least every 90 days and updated any time something changes.

Can you provide care overnight, on weekends, or 24/7?

Yes. Kindred Souls Care offers daytime, evening, overnight (asleep or awake), weekend, holiday, and 24/7 live-in care. Many families start with a few daytime shifts and scale up as needs progress. Our care line is staffed 24/7 — so if a need shifts at 2 a.m., a real person answers and a caregiver can be dispatched.

Do you specialize in dementia and Alzheimer's care?

Yes. Every caregiver completes specialized dementia training before their first shift, with ongoing education in memory-care techniques, validation therapy, gentle redirection, sundowning support, wandering and exit-seeking safety, and family communication. Care managers with dementia certifications oversee every memory-care plan, and we coordinate closely with neurologists and memory clinics.

How is mental health caregiving different from typical home care?

Mental health caregiving is calm, trauma-informed, and built on consistency. Our caregivers are trained in de-escalation, medication adherence support, recognizing warning signs, and coordinating with therapists, psychiatrists, and case managers. We help adults living with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or PTSD build steady routines, get to appointments, and feel safe at home.

How much does in-home care cost?

Pricing depends on the level of care, hours per week, and whether shifts are daytime, overnight, or live-in. After your free assessment we provide a transparent written quote — no surprise fees, no minimum-shift gimmicks. Many families start with as few as 4 hours a day; others choose 24/7 live-in care. We're glad to talk through cost openly during the first call.

Question 15

Do you accept insurance, VA benefits, or long-term care plans?

Accepted Answer

We work with most long-term care insurance providers, VA Aid & Attendance benefits, workers' compensation, and private pay. We don't currently bill Medicare or Medicaid directly, but we can help you understand your coverage, file long-term care claims on your behalf, and coordinate with your benefits coordinator.

Is there a minimum number of hours per visit?

Our standard minimum is 4 hours per visit, which gives the caregiver time to truly settle in and provide meaningful care rather than a rushed checklist. For overnight and 24-hour care, longer shifts apply. We're happy to discuss flexible scheduling for unique situations during your assessment.

Question 17

How are we kept informed about visits and changes?

After every visit, the caregiver logs detailed notes — what was eaten, how mood and mobility looked, medications given, meaningful moments, and any concerns. Families receive these through a private digital portal, plus a weekly summary call from the care manager. Anything urgent triggers a same-day call. You're never guessing how today went.

Are Kindred Souls Care caregivers licensed, insured, and bonded?

Yes. Kindred Souls Care is a fully licensed home care agency. All caregivers are W-2 employees (never independent contractors), covered by professional liability insurance, workers' compensation, and surety bonding. We also carry agency-level general liability coverage — so families and clients are fully protected.
